The 2012-2013 season gets started for UC Riverside basketball on November 9 in Chicago against DePaul. Expectations are that this year's Highlanders team will try to match the performance of last year's. They lose 80% of last season's minutes and hope to offset that with the contributions of eight incoming freshmen.

The UC Riverside defense will suffer from a 95.1% drop in blocked shots, the largest gap that the team will need to fill. That's followed by scoring, where they lost another massive 82.7% of last season's numbers.

The Highlanders will also miss David Chavarria (14 MPG), Daymond Cowlah (12 MPG), John Gilliam (6 MPG), and Dominique Taplin (3 MPG), who left the team.

Coming back to the Highlanders are senior Robert Smith (8.8 points/game), sophomore Austin Quick (2.4 points/game), and sophomore T.J. Burke (2.0 points/game).
